Since 2004, thousands of patients taking birth Yasmin and Yaz birth control pills have come forward with complaints of blood clots, gallbladder problems, and kidney problems related to their prescriptions. Despite years of complaints to the Federal Drug Administration, the government agency has not recalled the product, made by manufacturer Bayer. That could change, as the FDA has announced more recently that it will consider a set of British studies which showed that blood clots were up to three times more common for women taking birth control pills containing drospirenone, an active ingredient in Yasmin and Yaz. The results are sure to impact California Yaz lawsuits.
