Consolidation of Yaz Lawsuits to be Considered September 24

In: Yaz Lawsuit Updates

16 Aug 2009

The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation recently issued a notice (see page 22 of PDF) that a hearing will be held on September 24 to determine whether it’s appropriate to consolidate Yaz lawsuits from across the country.  A motion was filed last month by lawyers on behalf of a number of Yaz consumers in California, Georgia, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, and Wisconsin.  This group of lawyers and their clients are trying to centralize the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

The notice above mentions over 50 federal pending lawsuits against Bayer for this product, mostly relating to blood clots causing heart attacks, strokes, and other serious health risks.  Gallbladder diseases are also a common symptom associated with these lawsuits.

Yaz and Yasmin lawyers are currently investigating cases among women across the country, including our own firm here in California.

A full recap of this hearing is available from Dallas / Ft. Worth Yaz lawyer Dr. Shezad Malik.

If you or a loved one has taken Yaz and experienced any health difficulties as a result, please contact our firm by email or at 1-800-840-2111.
